Gesture recognition for prevention of COVID-19 코로나19 예방을 위한, 비접촉식 ‘동작 인식 기술‘ Gesture recognition technology has garnered a lot of attention along with the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of having contacts with a controller, users can interact with various devices only with the movements and gestures. A lot of people avoid to touch kiosks because of the fear of the spread of the pandemic. And a virtual touch technology, which can control different devices only with hand gestures, has been developed. The virtual touch technology can recognize the eyes and fingertips of a user through a 3D camera. And it can recognize the object that the user is pointing at. LiDAR sensor has received a lot of attention as it can play a role as an eye of autonomous vehicles. It is a motion recognition technology that can recognize fine movements of hands with the speed of 70 times per second. So users can control the screen without actually touching it. This is a studio located inside a domestic university. When wearing headphones with an embedded sensor and entering a studio, A vision tracking-based sensing system can recognize the movements of a user. When the technology is applied to exhibition and concert halls, the location of a user can be recognized in a large space. So the desired information or realistic sound can be provided according to different locations. We introduce non-contact gesture technologies which have achieved continuous growth by minimizing the contact, preventing the spread of COVID-19 and promoting differentiated technologies and contents. 코로나19 확산 여파로 ‘동작 인식 기술’이 주목받고 있는 가운데, 동작을 읽어내는 컨트롤러를 이용한 접촉식이 아닌 사용자의 움직임, 제스처만으로 기기들과 상호작용하는 비접촉식 ‘동작 인식 기술’이 다양한 형태로 발전하고 있다. 감염 공포 확산으로 직접 터치가 두려워진 키오스크는 사용자의 손끝이 가리키는 대로 각종 기기를 제어할 수 있는 ‘가상 터치 기술’이 적용되었다. 이는 3D카메라를 통해 사용자의 눈과 손끝을 인식해 가리키고 있는 대상이 무엇인지 알아내는 방식으로 이루어졌다. 자율주행 자동차의 눈 역할을 해줄 기술로 주목받는 라이다 센서를 적용한 ‘모션 인식 장치’도 개발되었다. 초당 70회의 속도로 미세한 손 움직임을 감지해 화면을 직접 만지지 않고 컨트롤 할 수 있는 것이 특징이다. 국내 한 대학교 안에는 카메라 센서가 설치된 스튜디오가 구축되어 있는데, 이곳에 사용자가 들어가면 비전 트래킹 알고리즘 기반의 센싱 시스템이 사용자의 다양한 동작을 인식한다. 이 기술을 전시장, 공연장 등에 적용 시 거대 공간에서 사용자의 위치에 따라 원하는 정보를 얻거나 실감 나는 사운드를 체험할 수 있다. 직접 접촉을 최소화해 코로나19를 예방할 수 있을 뿐 아니라 차별화된 기술력과 콘텐츠를 활용해 발전하고 있는 비접촉식 ‘동작 인식 기술’에 대해 알아본다.
