Rise of online networking amid COVID-19 코로나19로 다시 주목받는 ‘온라인 네트워킹 기술’ People’s daily lives have shifted from offline to online spaces as part of an effort to prevent further spread of COVID-19. And online networking technology has been applied to various fields including teleconference, remote medical treatment and distance learning. Education is one of the areas that has actively introduced online networking technology. Teachers are having online classes at an empty classroom. In the morning, students sit in front of tablet PCs instead of getting ready for school. Distance learning is not new to the students anymore. A two-way communication with students is possible while having an online class, so teachers and students can exchange feedback in real time. However, parents have raised concerns over the online classes. And the school has made a lot of efforts to alleviate the worries by emphasizing the strength of online classes. The spread of COVID-19 has changed the commuting culture of office workers. A lot of companies have implemented online networking technologies to help employees work remotely at home. People can work anytime, at any place, so it provides improved accessibility. We look into online networking technologies which have overcome the limitations of time and space. 코로나19 확산을 막기 위해 온라인을 통한 일상생활이 강화되고 있다. 원격 회의, 원격 진료를 비롯해 원격 수업까지 다양한 분야에 활용되고 있는데 그 중심엔 온라인 네트워킹 기술이 활용되고 있다. 온라인 네트워킹 기술의 도입이 가장 활발한 분야는 단연 교육 분야. 교사는 텅 빈 교실에서 학생들과 온라인으로 만나 수업을 진행하고 학생은 아침에 일어나 학교에 갈 준비하는 대신 태블릿 PC 앞에 앉아 선생님과 같은 반 친구들을 만날 준비를 한다. 코로나의 영향으로 이젠 더 이상 낯선 풍경이 아니다. 무엇보다 온라인 네트워크기술의 장점은 교사와 학생들과 실시간으로 쌍방향 커뮤니케이션이 가능해 실시간으로 피드백을 주고받을 수 있다는 점이다. 이처럼 온라인 개학이 진행하고 있는 가운데 이에 대한 학부모들은 원격 수업에 대한 걱정과 우려의 목소리가 나오고 있는 상황. 학교에서는 걱정을 해소하기 위해 온라인 교육의 개선점을 찾아 가기 위해 노력하고 있다. 또한 코로나 19 확산으로 인해 회사의 출퇴근 문화를 바꿔 놓기도 했다. 기업들은 온라인 네트워킹 기술 을 적극 도입해 재택근무를 하기도 한다. 시간과 장소에 구애받지 않고 근무할 있는 것이 장점이다. 시간과 공간의 제약을 경계를 허물어 주는 온라인 네트워킹 기술을 만나본다.
